What Is the Apostolic Anointing?
Not in name only, but in power, holiness, and purpose.
The apostolic anointing is not merely a title or tradition it is a divine commissioning. It empowers believers to build, confront, restore, and advance the Kingdom of God. While many today wear the name “apostle” as a badge, few walk in the spiritual depth, authority, and sacrifice true apostleship demands.
What Does "Apostolic" Really Mean?
The word *apostle* comes from the Greek *Apostolos*, meaning “one who is sent.” It signifies delegated authority, an empowered messenger, builder, and trailblazer.
John 20:21 (NKJV)
"As the Father has sent Me, I also send you."
Jesus sent His apostles not just to preach, but to demonstrate the power and nature of God. The apostolic anointing carries:
- Spiritual authority
- A burden for souls
- Divine strategy
- Unshakable holiness
- Signs and wonders as confirmation
Characteristics of the Apostolic Anointing
1. It Is Missional
Apostles don’t wait; they go. They carry fire into darkness.
Matthew 28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations…”
2. It Is Holy
An apostolic call demands consecration. You cannot carry holy fire with unclean hands.
2 Timothy 2:21 Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself… he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master.
3. It Is Bold
Apostolic voices speak truth, confronting error and deception without fear.
Galatians 1:10 “For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.”
4. It Is Demonstrated by Power
Paul made it clear the Gospel is not words alone, but power.
1 Corinthians 4:20 "For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power."
5. It Is Grounded in Suffering
Apostleship is not about fame, it is about sacrifice.
2 Corinthians 11:23-28 Paul endured beatings, shipwrecks, hunger, and sleepless nights all for Christ.
Restoring the Apostolic Flow Today
We must return to apostolic purity, not mere apostolic popularity. The Spirit is calling for:
- Voices, not echoes
- Builders, not performers
- Servants, not celebrities
- This means:
- Teaching truth even when it offends
- Praying until the heavens move
- Preaching repentance not just motivation
- Living with holy conviction not casual compromise
Acts 2:42-43 "And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine... Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done…"
Prayer: A Cry for Apostolic Fire
Father God,We come before You with humble hearts. Revive the apostolic anointing in this generation not in title, but in truth. Burn away complacency and compromise. Raise up voices of fire and wisdom, rooted in Your Word and led by Your Spirit. Let your sent ones arise holy, bold, and uncompromised!
Break our addiction to comfort and awaken our hearts for mission!
Use us to heal, teach, build, and restore!
Let signs follow the spoken Word!
Above all, let Christ be glorified!
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.!
You may never carry the title “apostle,” but you can carry the apostolic spirit, a holy burden for the lost, a readiness to go, and a heart yielded to the King.
The world doesn’t need more titles
- It needs more fire
- More obedience
- More purity
- More power
